Whit Dae I Get?

If Blairgowrie is in your blood, you get to communicate with folk who know about the same things you do; and nobody else does, unless they come from Blairgowrie as well. For instance, dae ye ken:

  • Whaur the Keithy is?
  • How much ye can jam in a luggie?
  • How much jam ye can get oot o' a luggie?
  • Whit happens at Loch Bog in the Winter?
  • What Loch Bog is really cried?

Or maybe you had parents or other relations there, or you are trying to get news of someone from there. If so, subscribe and ask away about them. Blair Folk taken together have a near encyclopedic knowledge of Blairgowrie, the area around and the people who live or once lived there.

Local Genaealogy

If you have recent or even distant antecedents from Blairgowrie and the local district, you may well be able to find out a bit more about them from the Genealogy Cenre operatd by members of the Blairgowrie & Rattray Local History Trust.

The volunteer staff is well versed in local genealogy procedures and can call on a number of older townspeople whose knowledge of local families is extensive. The genealogy helpers operate from the Blairgowrie Public Library from 2.00pm to 4.00pm on Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Alternatively, if you live further away than Alyth, then send an email with names, dates, places etc that you already know and tell us what you would like to know. More details in the adjacent panel.
